I've seen some try it. The results have been it works but none of the media can be viewed or downloaded so It's pointless, what you can try is looking around on your web host admin panel for any hotlink protection features. I know cPanel has some. Failing that you can contact yor website host for additional help. Sorry I can't be more of a help. I'll keep looking for any successful way to leech protect other multimedia.
