Ha ha thats true. I think Google blank out the number plates to cover there own arses really, and it's not that people don't want there number plates shown they actually do it anyway. I once saw the sign that indicated the name of road blanked out, although I've only seen that once and I understand that most of there blurring system is automated so it might of been a computer error.

I've never uderstood why people dont like number plates being shown in photos? just walk down the street with a pen and paper and you can jot down 50 plates in no time at all. Set up a web cam with a laptop in your car and you can snap peoples plates and faces with ease....

Fair enough, Google would be happy as it has been used for a purpose which has helped you find a location etc, the main point im pressing about google street is the fact that the people that get caught up in the pictures, and there technology that is meant to blurred faces and number plates isn't full proof I have just reported two images that are related to my family where the number plates are not blurred out at all. I've also seen this with faces.

Like I said, in my opinion, I don't agree with people complaining about google earth and it's privcay issues as you can't really do much with a two year out of date over head photo, but google street, yes I have a problem with it, you can get clear views of streets and even zoom into people's houses e.g. there living room etc.#

The technology behind it all is amazing and yes my privacy rant aside it is pretty amazing, but I don't think it's worth the money Google are putting into it. Thanks for your comment.

I think Google Street View is great, I use it all the time. I've been looking at places to stay near the university I go to and street view has been perfect to see what house is described on a web site or newspaper ad and also its nice to view the neighborhood. I've used street view before to find a hotel for a friend of mine that was in town, he was looking for a place to stay and I recommended a hotel and sent a street view link of the hotel to him which helped him find the right place when he was driving. These are just a couple ways I've used street view, and all the roads that the cars go on are public roads, none of the pictures that are taken are taken from restricted areas. So I support Google Street View and hope they continue to develop it.
